The National Central House of Aviation and Cosmonautics, DOSAAF Russia holds the country’s largest collection of aviation and space technology: more than three hundred aircraft and spacecraft, from the Po-2 trainer to the Buran orbiter. The museum grew out of a flight test station’s departmental collection and opened to the public in 1976.

Seven permanent galleries tell the story of flight in chronological order: early aviation, the wings of Victory, the jet age, supersonic flight, engines, orbital stations and the lunar programme. Every year the museum welcomes more than a million visitors and runs hundreds of tours, lectures and workshops.

Our mission is to preserve authentic monuments of engineering and make them accessible to everyone — schoolchildren, engineers and researchers alike. The museum’s restoration workshop operates in full view of visitors, and the reserve collection is open to scholars by appointment.
