A temporary exhibition on Mil and Kamov helicopters and light utility aircraft that served in the Far North and in air-ambulance work.
The Mi-8 is the most-produced twin-engine helicopter in the world, with more than 13,000 built. The exhibition shows the museum’s example in air-ambulance configuration, its cargo cabin open and fitted with genuine 1970s medical equipment.
The coaxial Ka-26 is displayed beside its interchangeable modules — a passenger cabin and an agricultural hopper — which explain its nickname, the flying chassis. The exhibition is completed by an An-2 biplane that flew the same northern routes and by an Il-76 freighter closing the air-bridge theme.
The documentary section is assembled from photographs of polar expeditions and from logbooks donated to the museum by pilots’ families.
