Salyut-7 (module mock-up)

The station had two docking ports, allowing Soyuz and Progress craft to be received at once and keeping crews in orbit for months. Inside was a work compartment with a treadmill, a cycle ergometer and instruments for astrophysics and materials science. In February 1985 the station stopped responding: the power system failed and everything went dark and froze. The crew of Dzhanibekov and Savinykh docked manually with the uncontrolled station, thawed it out and brought it back to life — an operation still considered unique in spaceflight history. On display is a full-size mock-up of the work compartment with a restored interior and control panels.
